Xerxes "Rex" Eclipse was born overseas, raised in Hollis, Queens and Long Island, NY and now resides in East Harlem, NYC. Sang with the Binghamton Crosbys as an undergrad and after stints with co-ed vocal groups after college, he joined the EXBs in 1998 (as the prophecies have predicted!). He enjoys food, K's Choice, air, naps, The Yankees, music and porn (in that order). When not having his speaking voice up two octaves after giving an EXB performance, Rex can be found during the day working in the non-profit sector, going to the gym, taking African dance and frequenting karaoke bars waiting for the next black eye.
Can you please give us a guided tour of your sexy tattoos? Keith, CT
Thanks for the question, Keith. I'd love to. I only have one tattoo for now...barbed wire around my right upper arm, dangerously close to my armpit, which I sometimes shave to lessen the odor. Jealous?
What's the secret to a killer falsetto? Jordan, GA
Hmm, good question, Jordan. Some of the notes that I sing in falsetto are not held, but rather, just "touched". In other words, controlled shrieks. The secret lies in practices outside of rehearsals. Singing in falsetto, both high and low ranges, to songs you hear on the radio is something I do regularly. The more complex the tune you are trying to mimic, the better. For the longer held notes, breath support and smiling (i.e. smiling) are things that I try to do. And if that doesn't work, a quick yank at each testicle right before I go onstage does the trick. The other guys don't yank it for me anymore, they've taught me how to do it myself.
